We know that working and studying can be stressful, therefore it is important to find a balance - everyone needs some time to relax. This is why HDU offers its students and staff the chance to participate in a wide range of sports through our sports program. Giving them the chance to socialise and relax away from the stresses of academic life.

In order to cater for as many interests as possible, our sports program is updated regularly to keep it fresh and exciting.

Not only is recreational sport offered, but also competitive sport. In recent years, our football team has been the bavarian college champions seven times, they won the German FH football championships in 2005 in Remagen and in Deggendorf in 2006, and they were runner ups in 2008 and 2009 at the championships in Frankfurt am Main.

Sports Offered

Subject to change!

During the school holidays no sports will take place at any of our sports halls.

Also, outside of term time (school holidays and public holidays) swimming at ELYPSO is no longer offered as part of our sports program - though a student discount is always available upon presentation of a valid student card.

Liability Provisions

The Free State of Bavaria, the university and its employees are liable for all claims (contractual and non contractual, including claims for ensuring public safety), unless damage is caused deliberately or through gross negligence. Any further liabilities are excluded.

In the case of an accident during one of these courses, enrolled students are covered by statutory accident insurance - so students need to remember to sign themselves in at the start of any course. This insurance, does not however, apply if the course is conducted externally by a club or any other external organisation. For full-time HDU employees who participate in the general sports offered by the university, no insurance coverage is offered and they are asked to take out their own private accident insurance.

In addition to this, all participants are advised to take out their own liability insurance to cover personal injury claims or third party damage.

All sports injuries need to be reported immediately to the relevant sports leader!

HDU is not liable for any lost property.

Regulations for Guests

In some cases, the participation of guests is allowed, but only in groups where there are free places available. The final decision however, lies with management.

In order to keep the sports program running, guest participants are required to pay 60 euros per semester to join the program. This membership is only valid for the person who paid. Please note, that some classes require extra payment in order to participate.

Participants need to be 18 or over.

HDU's insurance, unfortunately does not cover guest participants.

Use of Sport Facilities

Certain rules and regulations need to be followed when using any of the sport facilities which our program offers. For example, in sports halls, only clean trainers may be worn, with light colored, abrasion-resistant soles.

Outside of term time (school holidays and public holidays) swimming at ELYPSO is no longer offered as part of our sports program.

External Sport Offers

At present we have no special offers.
