Computer Centre

The computer centre is located on campus, on the 2nd floor of building G, directly above the library.

All students will receive a user ID for the duration of their studies. This gives you access to internet (on- and offsite), to your personal email account, as well as to other course related services and information. A number of services offered via the campus network are also available worldwide, using a web browser.

Open Access IT Lab

In this IT Lab, all computers are equipped with a range of software. Programs range from your basic Microsoft office programs to more diverse programs such as Visual Studio.

The lab is equipped with modern Apple computers, which have multimedia capabilities. In addition to the pre-existing Mac OS X, the current version of Microsoft Windows is also installed.

The IT lab can also be used for larger events or meetings. For this purpose, a digital projector has been permanently installed there, with a large screen and built in speakers. There are also multiple connectivity options available e.g. video, TV etc...

Sever Room

All IT components and devices required for computing and networking are located in the server room.

The university has a state of the art campus network. The present network cabling uses fibre optics and category 7 twisted pair cables as transmission mediums. The communication between buildings and connection to the server is done using GBit Ethernet, whilst all other devices are controlled at 100 MBit. Using Wi-fi on a registered laptop, all students and staff can connect to the university network.

The existing network infrastructure provides a variety of network services. Microsoft Windows server and Debian GNU/Linux can be used as server operating systems. Communication via email and groupware functionality are possible using the Kolab OpenSource mail server. The university website is operated using Joomla.

IT Support Offices

For those seeking technical support, our IT staff are always on hand. Their offices are also located on the 2nd floor of building G - meaning any computing problems that may arise can be be sorted out immediately.

Multi-function Printers

The network printer in the computer centre allows students and staff to print and photocopy wirelessly from university PCs in either black/white or colour. Print jobs can be sent to be either printed immediately or put on temporary hold in the Follow-Me print queue, which can then be printed using a special chip-card from any of the printers on campus.

Student Dormitories

Students living in nearby student dormitories can also access the university internet and services from their home PCs or laptops via WLAN.
