That’s how students show their academic creativity

20120126-BWLe-Learningwettbewerb

Students of Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences were asked to show off their creativity skills within an internal competition. This competition was about how students use digital media while learning and preparing themselves for exams. The participants handed in videos, podcasts and posters; fellow students had to choose the best invention.

Boris Baumer, a student of Business Informatics, was declared winner of the competition. He uses a digital script during lectures and integrates his notes and comments via a tablet into the digital medium. Then he saves and synchronises all documents within the Cloud. This is a platform where he gets access to from anywhere. This is a great advantage for the student compared to the use of a conventional script. “I also don’t have to take those heavy folders with me”, says Boris. He can share and discuss the digital notes via the digital network with his peers – a big advantage for exam preparation.

Alexander Ilg was second winner. He studies Applied Informatics and therefore also learns programming. In order to use programming exercises he uses videos. This can be seen in his idea, which he really creatively combined by using paper and pencil. Regina Pauker shows how to combine learning and sports by using digital media and was third winner.

President Prof. Dr. Reinhard Höpfl acknowledged the creativity of the winners as well as the everyday’s use of digital media among students of HDU.
