Foundation for young engineers

20120126-RoemerStiftung

The Grafenau-based company AVS Römer and Gabriela Römer, widow of the company founder Jpachim Christian Römer, established a foundation which is supposed to promote the Bavarian Forest as a technology and research site. The Joachim Christian Römer Stiftung had now been officially acknowledged by the government of Lower Bavaria and helps the founders to work for the benefit of the public. The yields of the paid-in assets are supposed to promote research in the field of mechanical engineering with its key subject area “fluid technics” as well as the educational training of engineers and technicians.

The foundation is going to support the laboratory work at Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences, finance scholarships and make it possible for future engineers to write their final thesis at the AVS Römer company in Grafenau. Heinz Grunwald, governmental president of Lower Bavaria, said: “We need jobs and training places for highly-qualified young people in order to keep them here in Lower Bavaria. The whole region will benefit from their commitment.” For more information you can directly contact the foundation: Joachim Christian Römer Stiftung, Altenstein 19, 94481 Grafenau.

There are currently around 200 foundations in Lower Bavaria. They are evidence for the fact that many people from Lower Bavaria are committed to public welfare.
